Springtime .. is that you?

We had some incredible weather this past weekend. I'm talking 70's and lots-o-sun! It was a nice change from the chilly weather lately, so we tried to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Saturday afternoon, Ryan took a break from the books for a trip to the Botanical Gardens. One of my all-time favorite FREE places to go in Birmingham. Jonah loved the freedom to roam and scope out the park mostly with Daddy while Mom fell behind with the camera.

I did let Ryan sneak in a shot of me and my little man.

Always the ladies' man, he stood and watched these girls long enough to where it would have been creepy had he been about 20 years older.

Ryan or as Jonah often refers to him: "Daddy-O" or the occasional "Ry" (oops, that one would be my fault), has been a busy guy these last few weeks between preparing for boards and getting his career off the ground (you know, just a few small life changes!) but he always seems to find time for this little man. And when these two are together, I might as well be doing something else, like umm, laundry or dishes perhaps!

I've been bad

Really bad ... about updating this blog, taking pictures, getting Jonah to sit still long enough to take a picture or convincing Jonah to quit pooping in the tub, but I digress. I am here today to vow to be better. I am not going to lie, things are pretty busy in the Babl household. Ryan has just 3 short weeks before he takes a little exam called his BOARDS! Everyone's New Year's resolutions are keeping me busy at work, and Jonah, well he certainly keeps us busy, but that part we love.

This weekend Ro Ro made the trip over to entertain Jonah and me while Ryan had a work inservice. I can't get over how grown up (and smart) my little guy is. When my mom and I arrived at school to pick him up, he pointed to her and said "Ro Ro". This guy knows how to melt a girl's heart! We had a great weekend at the botanical gardens and the McWane Science Center (where we went ahead and bought a membership) and of course, my camera came no where with me!

But, Monday (my day off for the Hioliday) Jonah and I spent some time outside enjoying the mild temperatures. Ahhh, the south.

Once we came inside we built a "fort" with the box my canvas arrived in (more on this later). It was the perfect place to race our car (from G-ma B) and our new bus (from G-ma Ro Ro) back and forth.

Busy Boy

These days, it seems like Jonah is too busy to stop and smile for the camera. He has more important things to do; like take a phone call.

On the rare occasion I can get him to look at the camera, I usually get that "little trouble maker" look I love so much.

And many times, he wants to show off one of his many skills; in this case "check out this big belly, Mamma".

And rarely, and I mean very rarely, he'll give me that sweet smile ... well, almost!
