Shots, Mugshots and big domes!

Thursday we had our 29-week appointment and ultrasound. Ryan was able to come along although, after watching me get the rhogam shot, he may have regretting coming at all!

We were expecting a routine ultrasound to check growth and fluid, but were pleasantly surprised when the tech took a few of Baby Babl's mugshots in 4D! It is truly unbelievable how many amazing details you can see through these shots. He opened and closed his eyes several times during the ultrasound and balled his hands up into a fist. We could not get him to move his hands from in front of his face, but I think his little hands are adorable, even if they are smooshing his handsome face!

Everything looked great with the ultrasound. His head is measuring big, which doesn't surprise me since both Becky's babies have heads in the 90-something-percentile! (and he probably has a big brain) He has apparently had quite a growth spurt the last few months. At our 19-week appointment, he was 40% weight,;she now said he is measuring ahead .... my fears of a big "Stuck-like" baby are reemerging!

Anyways, enough talk, here is our little boy:

Week 29!

Just thought I would post a quick pic of my growing belly (and growing boy)! We are thrilled to have another ultrasound tomorrow afternoon, so be sure to check back tomorrow pm for some shots of Baby Babl himself. We only hope he is half as photogenic as he was last time around!

Our theme for the weekend: When it rains in Birmingham, it pours! A very dreary and damp (and kinda cold) weekend allowed us to spend our whole Saturday painting the nursery. The colors turned out so beautiful and the web will do them no justice. In fact, when we were admiring our handy work on Sunday, we joked about moving our furniture in there and started over with the baby’s room!

We did a dark blue/slate on the bottom and went two shades lighter on top. Where you see the tan strip in the middle, will actually be a white chair rail by this weekend. We actually debated keeping the tan stripe and joked that people pay loads of money to get the look we got accidentally!

We also ordered the crib this weekend and hope to have most of the nursery finished by the time everyone is in town for our shower next month. Our baby just might have the pimpest pad in daycare!

It's the Final Countdown! (cue music by Europe)

Today marks 28 weeks. A milestone in pregnancy that brings me into the 3rd trimester! I know it is cliché to say time has flown by, but when I look back and think of that Thanksgiving weekend when I stood in the bathroom with two positive pregnancy tests, it seems like it just happened! I feel truly lucky to still feel great although I will admit, the aches and pains are coming ….. I can tell!

Ryan and I have gotten so much done to prepare for our boy and I hope to have pictures of the painted nursery posted next week. It is all coming together quickly. We have an ultrasound (yes, another one!) on Thursday, so I will post more at that time.

Uhhh, this is awkward!

So, Ryan and I always knew that Tilly thought of herself as our baby. Unlike Bones, she is demanding of our time, nosey, overly-snuggly and has some serious separation anxiety. But this time I think she is crossed the line into true human form.

We spent most of the weekend moving furniture (I just supervised!) cleaning, organizing and moving all the baby items we have accumulated into his new room. I FINALLY got to roll out our new rug, the piece de resistance, if I say so myself, and it looks fabulous! By the end of next weekend, we hope to have the room painted and the crib ordered.

OK, back to Tilly. I’m afraid she thinks this is her new room! She spent the whole weekend, laying, rubbing, traipsing, hopping, and scratching (you get the picture) around in her new room. She loves the rug and thinks it’s her new play mat. She and Ryan spent about an hour playing ball and wrestling on the rug. I am truly afraid of the day when the baby comes home and she realizes she has to share this with someone else. Although, I have no doubt she will make a fantastic big “sister”!

This Sunday, we should all pay homage to one of the most important women in our lives. The person who gave us birth, packed our lunches, mended our cuts and bruises, taught us right from wrong and raised us into productive adults.

My mom has been a teacher, a disciplinarian and always a best friend! I lucked out in the mom department. As I embark on a special mother’s day this year, a year where I will become a mother myself, I look to my mom for advice on how to do this job genuinely, honestly, and unconditionally; just like she did.

So this weekend, take a moment to thank your mother for all the hard work and sacrifices she has made. We should appreciate these people year round, but Sunday, our mom’s go on a pedestal for all their hard work. Now, I know my mom doesn’t expect recognition and doesn’t believe in holidays endorsed by Hallmark, but non-the-less, you’re awesome mom, and I love you!

So to all the mothers in my life: my mom, my mother-in-law, my grandmother, to my friends who are mothers and those who just became mothers (for the 2nd time) this week, my sister who is a mother, and to the mothers I have never met, Happy Mom’s Day!
