I Hope He Has My Eyes And His Daddy's .... err ..... Rock Band Skills?

Commemorating what may be our last childless weekend, we played a little rock band with friends, slept in and ate Dairy Queen. Does it get any better than that?

Everything grows rounder and wider and weirder, and I sit here in the middle of it all and wonder who in the world you will turn out to be.

With only two weeks left until D-Day, I thought it would be nice to reminisce back through the last 38 weeks. Seems like only yesterday it was Thanksgiving weekend and I standing in the bathroom holding my stick that read “Positive”!

Marge, you're as pretty as Princess Leia and as smart as Yoda. ~Homer Simpson

It's funny what people get away with saying to pregnant women. I supposed it is the one time in your life when “Geez, Jenny, you are huge!” is not expected to offend me? Everything is fair game, from body parts to bodily functions.

Ryan and I were discussing this on the way home from a day of errands. We even tossed around the idea of writing a book: Don’t Say This to a Pregnant Lady! His client, an anesthesiologist, who has done countless epidurals had some great stories of husbands (especially) who said things they immediately regretted. Like one dad-to-be who was following the contractions of his wife on the chart in the hospital. As one came by that particularly took a toll on his wife, he said “What’s a matter? That wasn’t even a bad one!” (I think Ryan was really being prepped by this father of three on how to not act when I go into labor!)

Well, we’ll let you know when you publish our book and make millions. Hopefully we won’t be using any quotes that come from my birthing room!

In other news, the countdown is 17 days! We can hardly believe it. I have had a few contractions, but nothing consistent. I still sleep great, but I have resorted to napping occasionally on the weekends. All in all, we are so ready. I can’t imagine another thing we need to do to prepare for this little one’s arrival.

We’ll keep everyone posted as best we can as things progress. Although I am in marketing, you will not be able to follow my birth updates on Twitter or even Facebook for that matter! We’ll post on here as soon as we can!

This may be my last picture update! It’s funny how much bigger you look when you see a picture of yourself! Does the camera add 10 lbs and 4 centimeters?

Break out the Every Flavor Beans ... these muggles are headed to the movies!

That's right! We will be joining the hords of Potter fans this weekend to see the latest HP installment. Ryan's anticipation level for this movie is nearly matched by the expectation of the arrival of his son. Let's hope our little one is as much a Harry Potter fan as his parents!

In other news - Only 3 weeks till our due date! There is a car seat in my car and it freaks me out a little every time I open the door to the back seat!

One month to go and the bets are in!

Tomorrow, Friday, July 10 marks the 4-week countdown until my due date. All in good fun, we thought we would start taking bets on when Baby Babl will make his grand arrival and what his size will be! I'll make a special tribute to the winner on the site - although it may be several days (read: weeks) before I get back into posting mode! So, post a comment, email me, whatever you want to do to get your guess posted. Come on ... it's fun!

Now that it's all over, what did you really do yesterday that's worth mentioning?

Wow! It’s been a busy week at the Babl’s! Tuesday night Chris and Montiel (I apologize for not knowing how to spell your name Montiel! It’s pathetic!) arrive for a quick visit. I, unfortunately, had to work while they were here for the most part, but I know Ryan enjoyed canoeing, sightseeing and eating with them! I was available for most of the “eating” part which included a fabulous cookout courtesy of Ryan and a trip to Cajun Steamer for some southern eats.

Their trip was short and they headed back to the great NE Friday morning leaving Ryan and I some time to relax and enjoy my first pregnant swim. Why have I been waiting so long to do this? (Fear of looking like a whale, inability to shave my legs, etc) It was fabulous! It will definitely be my new exercise through this last month.

Monday morning, Ryan and I were lucky enough to get yet another ultrasound! For those of you counting, that’s 4! Yes, we are lucky and yes, I have a nice doctor (and good insurance!). By 8am Monday morning, we were looking at our boy again. He decided to sleep this time, although he did smile a couple of times, which the tech loved! Everything looked great with him. Right now, it doesn’t look like he is going to be huge baby, as he is measuring at 30% (which they have assured me multiple times is perfectly normal). Although the tech was great and got some 4D face shots, the umbilical cord was right over his mouth, so it looks kinda wavy over that area. Enjoy the pics! We’re so spoiled to see him just a month out. We’ll be sending real pictures before we know it!

Chris and "M" hanging out with the Cajun Steamer gator.

Not sure what's happening here!

Smile! Kinda distorted with the cord over the bottome half of his face.

Chubby cheeks! If he is small, he isn't hurting in the cheek department.

Mr. Limber! That's his foot and hand poking himself in the eye!
