Not to rub it in to my friends up North, but, let me just start off by saying, what amazing weather we are having. Today is sunny and 70 degrees with a light wind. Unfortunately, the majority of my day will be spent inside in meetings, but I will make every effort to get outside when I can. The longer Ryan and I spend winters in the South, the less likely it is we will make the move to the North!
The Babl clan had an exciting and action-packed past weekend. Saturday was spent running errands, piddling around the house and given the dogs their spring bath. We both laughed while bent over the tub, soaking wet, taking turns scrubbing the pups thinking about how this is perfect practice for 7 months from now! Actually, we can’t complain as we are fortunate the dogs pretty much just sit there and endure – the least we can hope for from our little one!
Saturday night I had my first pregnancy let-down. After church and shopping we decided to stop for dinner at Superior Grill, one of our favorite Mexican hot-spots. When they told me the queso dip was not pasteurized (a no-no for pregnant women!) I think something in me died a little! The food (and company) was still terrific!
Sunday afternoon we headed over to Ben’s house to celebrate his first birthday! Although he thought the cup cake was a little questionable, he enjoyed opening all his presents and showing off his walking skills. With 3 babies under 2 at the party, we definitely got a taste of what the future holds. It’s just nice to finally be a part of the “baby club”!
Yesterday, another gorgeous day, Stacey, Wendi (two co-workers of mine) Keisha, a co-worker who recently moved to Nashville and her daughter Aubrey met for lunch and girl time. We had a blast while Aubrey entertained us and spent lots of time talking about babies (imagine that!) Between the 4 of us, we have 3 babies and 2 on the way! Thanks ladies for a lovely 2-hour lunch!

It's funny, since the moment Ryan and I started talking about having kids, probably a year or so ago, everyone (or according to our poll 90%) insists that Ryan is going to have all girls. I'm not sure why everyone thinks this, but I am sure, that he would take a daughter in a second! Not to say he wouldn't be ecstatic about a son!
In celebration of the long weekend Ryan and I decided to take a day trip over to the Georgia Aquarium on Saturday morning. And let me say, if you ever get the opportunity to visit, you should. It was amazing! It is the world’s largest aquarium and is worth every penny of the $27 per person admittance. As cool as it was, it was insanely crowded with screaming kids everywhere! How ironic, right? I was trying to be smart and pack light for the trip inside, so I wouldn’t have to lug around my purse. Well, in my over-efficiency, I left my camera in the car. And I was so disappointed I did, with so many photo ops! We did manage to take a few (albeit lame) camera phone shots, but I am not even sure those are worth posting!
Today I am enjoying the holiday as I sit in my office, typing this email (more irony, right?) But I didn’t want to wait another day to thank everyone who has sent us thoughtful emails; we were overwhelmed!
PS - If you haven't visited our old blog, there are tons of pictures of dogs, our house, our family, etc. Granted, there was no baby then, so the posts aren't nearly as exciting! (The link is under "Blog List" and the password is "bonesandtilly" (I switched to this blog because it is much more user friendly!)

It is said that the present is pregnant with the future.
If you are reading this blog, you have heard our news! The Babl Baby is set to make his/her entrance on August 7. Let me first say it is such a relief to have our “secret” out. It is not easy keeping something so great to yourself!
I am 11 weeks and feel great! I do have to be in bed by 9:30 or else Ryan is dragging me to bed from the couch! I had only two weeks of nausea and sickness so let’s hope I am one of the more fortunate ones! Isn’t that supposed to mean I am having a boy or something?
Back in July Ryan and I went to see a pre-conception therapist to get the OK to have kids in the first place (with the medication I take for Crohn’s) and we were told to be patient and that it may take a year since Ryan had surgery and undergone radiation therapy. You can image our surprise when the test came back positive in a month!
Because I have Crohn’s, I am considered a “low-high risk” pregnancy (whatever that means!) so I am being seen by specialist which to me means, extra special care and more ultrasounds. (see 7 ½ week ultrasound below) We heard the heartbeat on 1/8 which was a great moment and such a relief.
Well, now that you are all brought up to speed, check back frequently for updates. And yes, we will be finding out the gender as soon as we possibly can, so be sure to check back in March – although I promise to post much more frequently than that!
