Chattanooga Piggle-Dee-Dee

Any Pookie fans out there? Ok then.

We finally found a weekend with healthy kids and free time to make the trek up to the 'Noog to visit the Prentices. It was a quick visit, but well worth the drive. The weather was unbelievable and all the kids had a blast. Jonah would have been happy as a clam staying at Ben's house playing with new (to him) toys. But us adults needed brunch and a little outdoor time.

Scoping the playground.

Ben: "Ok, buddy, here's how it's going to go down: first we hit the swings, then your dad is going to spin us around on the funny seat that makes us dizzy!"

Jonah: "Whatever you say wise Oh-Benwan Kenobi"

Ben:
"Time out! Dude, your mom is making us pose for ANOTHER picture!"

Happy Girl (s)!

A bath and a tenderloin steak. Those are the high points of a man's life.

He sure loves his. Especially when they are served with bubbles!

A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.

The temps were so nice and warm this weekend.

Like, sandal-weather warm.

So we played outside A LOT.

And had fun with our "shobel" (or shovel)

Life is good.

For this ^ guy!

18 months!

That's like, a year and a half. As in, today, my child is closer to 2 than 1! Wow!

And here are his stats from yesterday's appointment:

Weight: 23.5 lbs .................. 20%
Height: 31 3/4 inches .......... 50%
Head: 19 1/4 inches ............ 90%

He exceeded all his milestones, some of which including eating with a fork and spoon, running and of course talking. When adding up the words Jonah says, we stopped counting at 50. Doc says he talks well above the average 2 year old. He often strings 2 or 3 words together already - although these are usually commands:

"Bones inside"
"Daddy sit here"
"Mamma up please"

Bossy, bossy! I should mention he does have some good manners. He loves to say "tank too, Mama" (thank you) whenever I give him something.

Jonah sleeps great, usually from 8p - 7a and still naps for about 2 hours from 12 - 2. He loves, loves school and knows all his teachers' and friends' names. (I only believe this because I have witnessed it!)

He continues to be a really good eater, but his favorites include applesauce, chicken, cheese and goldfish - I think that's pretty well-rounded, huh? He doesn't have too many dislikes, but he won't eat mashed potatoes (WHAT!) and is picky about vegetables.

Always the boy, he loves cars, trucks, planes, pretty much anything that goes. His favorite toy is probably his bus from Grandma Ro Ro or his car from Grandma B. Grandma knows best, I guess! He loves being outside, but when inside, his favorite thing to do is sit in Mommy's or Daddy's lap and read a book. What he doesn't like is, getting dressed or having to come inside after playtime.

He seems like such a big boy all of a sudden. I no longer have to endure the sadness of leaving him at school. These days, he will wave goodbye to me and go join his friends.

We continue to get told, whether at school or in public, what a sweet and mild-mannered boy we have. We also continue to get told he "looks just like his daddy!" He still loves to snuggle and we are always happy to oblige. Ryan and I love watching him grow up and discover new things.

We love you Jones!

Please don't feed the dust bunnies. ~Author Unknown

Thanks to Jonah, who is taking care of said dust bunnies.

What else has he been up to lately? Well, he's been a busy boy.

He is learning to play the trumpet, eer, piece of cardboard.

He continues to perfect his funny faces.

He's been keeping tabs on the backhoe doing work down the street.

He is a cape-wearing super-Jonah on the weekends.

And of course, plotting world domination with his army men.

There is no rest for this busy boy!

Springtime .. is that you?

We had some incredible weather this past weekend. I'm talking 70's and lots-o-sun! It was a nice change from the chilly weather lately, so we tried to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Saturday afternoon, Ryan took a break from the books for a trip to the Botanical Gardens. One of my all-time favorite FREE places to go in Birmingham. Jonah loved the freedom to roam and scope out the park mostly with Daddy while Mom fell behind with the camera.

I did let Ryan sneak in a shot of me and my little man.

Always the ladies' man, he stood and watched these girls long enough to where it would have been creepy had he been about 20 years older.

"Can I jump in? P-P-P-pllllllllease!"

My boys leading the way.

Daddy - O

Ryan or as Jonah often refers to him: "Daddy-O" or the occasional "Ry" (oops, that one would be my fault), has been a busy guy these last few weeks between preparing for boards and getting his career off the ground (you know, just a few small life changes!) but he always seems to find time for this little man. And when these two are together, I might as well be doing something else, like umm, laundry or dishes perhaps!
