Milestones: Jonah has grown up so much in the last few weeks. He had mastered the army crawl many months ago, but finally decided that crawling on all fours was not so bad. He pulls up on everything he can and we find him standing in his crib after sleep. He always goes to the side of the crib by the door and waits with a smile on his face for us to get him. He can clap, gives Ryan high-fives, and waves bye-bye anytime he hears those words. We have quite the little cruiser and I imagine those first steps are in our near future. Jonah loves to talk and says “Da Da”, “Ma Ma”, “tsts” for light and “dah” for the dogs. He is always quick to point at a “tsts” (light) if you ask him where it is.
Likes: This little swimmer loves anything to do with water – baths, swimming, the faucet, the dog bowl or the hose. His favorite toys include stacking cups or blocks, mom’s belts (don’t ask!), Tilly’s ball and anything he can open and close (dog crates, doors, wipes container or the gate).
Jonah could eat his weight in Cheerios and loves yogurt, waffles and grilled chicken. He recently started expanding his palate to include pork tenderloin, green beans, zucchini, squash, peas, broccoli, rice and sometimes pasta. He is beginning to use his sippy cup on a daily basis, which should help the transition to milk in the next few months.
He is a great sleeper, often going 12 or 13 hours before waking. He naps much better at home than at daycare but always seems to be in a good mood. His teachers love him and often refer to him as the easiest baby in the class.
Dislikes: Jonah is always on the move, so pretty much anything that slows him down can be added to this list: diaper changes, face wiping or clothing changes. We also discovered he is not much into cottage cheese and he thinks fresh blueberries are too sour.
I feel like I end each month with a similar statement – Jonah is just an easy baby who always seems happy and content. We are so lucky to have such an awesome little guy in our lives. With his first year of life almost over, it’s seems almost impossible to imagine life before him.
